Chapter 8: Competitions

Vrajesh Modashiya: A Journey

As my journey in the world of robotics unfolded, another thrilling chapter emerged - the realm of robotics competitions, with he World Robot Olympiad (WRO) taking center stage. WRO has been an essential part of this journey. It’s not just a competition; It’s a platform for us to exchange ideas, showcase our talents and learn from each other. Beyond the competition, robotics has profoundly impacted my school life. It’s made subjects I used to find boring into exciting challenges, it has shown me that science and math aren’t just abstract concepts; they are tools to bring innovative ideas to life.

Unlike my initial encounters with robotics, WRO introduced me to the power of collaborative problem-solving. It wasn't just about building robots; it was about working seamlessly with a team to tackle challenges that pushed the boundaries of creativity and engineering as well as my ability to be a team player.

The heart of WRO lies in its challenges—problems that demand innovation and strategic thinking. Whether it's navigating a robot through a maze, solving real-world problems, or mastering intricate missions, each challenge is a testament to the diverse skills required in the field of robotics.

Participating in WRO made me a part of an exclusive secret edition global community of like-minded individuals, each fueled by a passion for robotics. The exchange of ideas, cultures, and solutions created an atmosphere where diversity and innovation flourished. Yet, amidst the global camaraderie, the impact of WRO echoed locally, inspiring a new wave of enthusiasm for robotics in Kenya.

WRO is not just about winning; it's about the journey of continuous learning. The thrill of competition is coupled with the invaluable lessons learned along the way. My coach once told me “It's not just about the destination; it's about the journey itself, the lessons we learn, the friendships we forge, and the growth we experience.”

As my robotic journey continues, WRO stands as a pivotal chapter that shaped not only my skills but also my perspective on the collaborative and competitive nature of the robotics community. WRO was a milestone in my personal growth, a testament to my determination, and a memory that will forever be carved in my mind.
