Chapter 1 - An Idea

Vrajesh Modashiya: A Journey

Greetings My Fellow Readers,

Over the next couple of days, I will take you on my journey of becoming a self taught developer. Join me as I tell you about the problems I faced and the achievements I gained through my journey of coding and robotics.

Chapter 1 - An Idea

The path of the self-taught developer is tough and filled with uncertainty. There is no straight line from newbie to career programmer. Because of this, I believe all self-taught programmers have a unique story to tell.

I’ll share my coding journey through a series of lessons I learned along the way. Hopefully reading about my experience teaching myself how to code will help you reflect on your own past, and motivate you to keep moving forward.

It all started during COVID lockdown, when schools were online and all I had was my old Lenovo Ideapad. I used to watch a new movie everyday to maintain my sanity.

One day, I stumbled across a movie called “Swiped” on Netflix. The movie was about a guy who got his friend to build him an app. That is what space-rocketed my exploration mission into the vast space of coding.

I just gave up on it for a few days until I couldn’t get it out of my head.

I then went on youtube to watch tutorials on how to code. I did not know that there were different languages or that there was something called a code editor.

I thought that it was the same way that movies portray it that coding was on a cool looking setup with several different screens and 2 different keyboards. I always thought that people who code were dangerous people, that they could get into your bank account and that coding was illegal.

The movie is what sparked my interest in Coding and the vast sea of Software. I think it is safe to say that my journey began with curiosity, evolved through dedication and matured through countless challenges.

While the wise say that Rome was not built overnight. I like to think that they were layering bricks every hour. Its the same concept that applies to coding. If you continue making progress every day, you will improve steadily. The more you code, the more proficient you will be. That was the mentality that was propelling me towards beginning my journey.

That was my journey and how it started. Send me your journey’s on: [email protected]
